Professional artist MAARTEN VAESSEN passionately makes iron rust sculptures. Maarten deliberately didn’t follow a specific Art Academy as he wouldn’t follow the teachers’ instructions anyway. Characteristic of Maarten's work are unfinished welds, weld spatter and he does not mind dents. Mostly abstract, sometimes figurative; Maarten’s pieces are always pure and robust as he works with iron as his core material, sometimes combining it with large boulders he finds on the banks of the river Maas.

He often places the sculptures on heavy, robust hardwood pedestals made from old bollards. Some of the galleries selected by him sell his works, but you can also visit his own studio and 4000 m2 sculpture garden without any obligation.
